One-Day Old

I am a day old, mom,
I am a day old, dad,
I saw him crying yesterday,
When you weren’t looking at him,
I think they were tears of joy though.
He whispered, “My raja!”
And smiled thinking I couldn’t comprehend,
But I laughed still,
And encouraged him,
To say that again and again.
He thinks I don’t see through his dreams,
But I can see,
He already sees me as a doctor,
A lawyer, an engineer,
He sees me holding his hand,
As an eighty year old image of him walks,
I try to explain that I am only a day old,
But all I say is khaay-khaay.
He knows what this means,
And his faith in me is solidified.
